Check Out These Simple Tips and Instructions to Ensure Your New Window Tint Looks Great for Years After Install!

Allow Your New Tint Time to Dry!
Your new window tint will take up to 30 days to fully dry for vehicles and about 90 days for residential and commercial. Until this time your newly tinted windows may appear hazy or lumpy, and it may seem to have water bubbles, streaks, and defects. This is normal as the tint cures to the pores of the glass. IMPORTANT: For vehicles, allow your new tint to dry for at least 72 hours before rolling your windows down.
Clean Your New Tint Properly
Your new window film should be cleaned with a soft clean cloth (the blue disposable shop towels that come in a roll works great). When choosing a cleaning solution, make sure to read the label and ensure it says Tint Safe; we prefer to use a foaming window cleaner (this can be found at almost any store). Ammonia based products should be avoided because these products can cause your film to fade over time. Most tint safe window cleaners are clearly labeled.
Note About DOT Matrix
DOT Matrix is referred to as the black dots or thin lines generally at the top of most rear windshields and sometimes around the edges of your front and rear windshields. These can be quite thick on most cars and prevent the window film from sticking to the area between the dots. This can result in a whitish looking strip trimming the glass. Typically this isn't very noticeable; however some cars have a wide band of dots trimming the top of the rear windshield. This area is so wide that the whitish looking area created is more pronounced. Unfortunately, the effect is generally unavoidable.
Be Aware of Your New Window Tint
Your new tint is not indestructible and can be scratched, chipped, or dinged by various things. Most commonly this happens from seat belt clips hitting the windows, pets scratching the windows, or kids throwing toys. If your tint is damaged due to any accidents such as these or so many other possibilities, your warranty will not cover the repair cost. This may cause you the unwanted expense of getting the damaged tint removed and replaced.
Window Tinting is a Delicate Process
Though we strive for perfection in all of our installations, due to the nature of the product, some degree of dust contamination and/or minor imperfections may be present in window tint application (this is especially true for older or dirtier vehicles and homes). Pre-existing flaws or scratches and metal deposits on the glass are often much more noticeable after the windows are tinted.
Small silvery looking spots or 'metal rubs' on some vehicle windows can sometimes be found in utility vehicles and car rear windshields, and are usually caused by a metal object (such as a baby stroller handle, umbrella, etc.) rubbing against the inner surface of the glass during travel. This rubbing can scratch or deposit metal onto the glass creating a silver or grey looking stain. Usually these these metal rubs and scratches aren't very noticeable on plain glass but will likely be more noticeable once the window is tinted.
Note About Rear Windshield Defroster
If your vehicle is equipped with defrost lines, at night you may notice that the light from headlights will reflect off of the defogger lines. This may cause a distorted look out of the glass. This is caused by the film having to bend slightly around the raised defogger line, it varies from car to car and is more common on Dodge vehicles. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done about this.
Enjoy Your New Tint!
Perhaps the most important thing is to enjoy your new window tint and the benefits it brings to your vehicle or home! Window tint can reduce the heat passing through the glass, reduce glare from the sun, and bring a new stylish look to any vehicle or home!
